ELMIRA - It's the tenth training camp in Elmira Jackals history, and judging by the roster, the most competitive yet.
More than 30 players hit the ice this morning at First Arena to officially open training camp. Some names you'll recognize: Chaz Johnson, Colton Yellow Horn, etc. Others you'll know soon enough, including Max Gratchev, Jean-Francois David, Matt Lowry and Brandon Svendsen.
A couple interesting names in camp on a tryout basis include Tyler Donati and his twin brother Justin. Tyler left the team after just 15 games last year, despite leading the team with 20 points. Also, Elmira College grads Dave McKenna and Matt Blake are in camp.
The Jackals will hold an inter-squad scrimmage Sunday morning from 10-12 at First Arena's rec rink - an event that is open to the public.
