Cornell is again picked to take the Ivy League crown.
Cornell is again picked to take the Ivy League crown.
Two teams that had so much in common barely seven months ago, now find themselves at complete opposite ends of the spectrum.  Cornell is the preseason pick to win the Ivy League yet again, while defending America East champ Binghamton is predicted to take last.

The Big Red return all five starters - and eight of the team's nine leading scorers - from a year ago.  They received all 16 first-place votes, putting Cornell in position to win its third straight Ivy title.

Cornell returns All-Ivy First-Teamers Ryan Wittman and Louis Dale, reigning league Defensive Player of the Year Jeff Foote - an SVE grad - and last year's Ivy Rookie of the Year Chris Wroblewski.

Binghamton, on the other hand, returns only three players who even played a minute last season.  The Bearcats had six players kicked off the team within the last two months, three of which were starters.  What remains is a team with just seven scholarship players on the roster.

The Bearcats did not attend today's Media Day events.  Athletic Director James Norris said they wanted the focus to be on all the other teams in the league, instead of Binghamton's recent turmoil.

The other BU - Boston University - is the pick to win the America East this season.

Both Cornell and BU open their seasons on November 14th.  The Big Red are at Alabama that night, while Binghamton opens at home against Division-II Bloomsburg.
