Syracuse – Arguably the best player on the Syracuse football team is calling it quits with four games left on the schedule. Star wide receiver Mike Williams walked into Doug Marrone’s office Monday morning and delivered the news. "Mike Williams came into me today and has quit the program," Marrone said. "I do not comment on people who have left the program, but he has quit the program."
Williams was suspended for SU’s game against Akron last week for violating team policy and was absent all of last year because of academic problems.
In 7 games this season, he had 49 catches for 746 yards and six touchdowns. He ranks sixth nationally with over 106 receiving yards per game and his seven receptions per game is tied for 14th in the country. Williams is also tied for second all-time at Syracuse with 20 touchdown catches.
